Squawk Box portfolio challenge update
Ok, first things first. If you ever needed any proof that I’m not a financial expert and that the info on this site is merely observations and reflections then this challenge should prove that.
I started the challenge a day late and thus had a weekend to slow me down, but really not a great excuse. Everyone started with $1,000,000.00 Squawk bucks to invest. After the first day of trading, my balance sheet looks a little like this:
Total Stocks: $135,028.00
Total Cash: $866,453.00.
Total Value: $1,001,481.00
Note exactly a stellar performance. At least it’s in the positive. Nowhere even close to the leader at the moment though. #1 on the list? $1,414,846.04. I have to wonder out loud how someone manages to make 400k in about 4 days. 3 business days if you include today, which that number does not. Incredible.
I’ve made some more purchases of stock and hopefully my portfolio will continue to grow, but there is plenty of catching up to do. What has everyone else done? Any good stock tips? Best purchases? Worst?
