Well, now that I’m a little more reorganized after the trip, I thought I might share a few observations and pictures.San Antonio’s downtown/riverwalk district is great. The hotel that we stayed in (Marriott Riverwalk) was fairly centrally located and nearly everything was withing walking distance. I wandered over to the Alamo and walked nearly all of the Mile and a quarter of the Riverwalk at least once. If you manage to make it to the riverwalk, stop in at County Line BBQ for great baby back ribs.
The business conference that we went to was O.K. The problem with a business conference is that they are always in great locations and much like normal, I’d rather be outside than inside a business meeting. We did get the opportunity to learn a few things about some upcoming software releases and since it was my first time to one of these conferences, I made some great contacts. Overall, from a financial perspective, it seems silly of the company to spend the amount of money that they did when the software maker does at least half of it on WebEx at some point. Personally, I spent less than $100 on the whole trip and had a mini vacation for the extra day that we were there. Very affordable vacation time really.
