What do you include in your raise?

When I wrote about not being excited for my next raise a few days ago, I was only speaking of the actual raise to the salary.  There are other things that the company pays for that went up in cost, but that I do not see.  Such things as Health Insurance that raise quite a bit each year.

If I had included the extra Health Insurance cost to my raise, my raise would have been almost exactly the rate of inflation.  That still wouldn’t have made me happy, but it does get it a little closer.

What do you include in your raise?  Do you look at just the salary increase or the increase of non-salary items like Health Insurance and increased contributions to retirement accounts?

    Retirement yes, health benefits sort of. Yes, if they pay more for my coverage, it should be seen as a salary increase. If my out of pocket goes up, then I’ve seen a pay cut from that as well.
