April 17th, 2007: Tax Day

This year, taxes must be filed by April 17th instead of the normal April 15th deadline.  The reason is that April 15th lands on a Sunday this year and that Monday the 16th is Emancipation day in the District of Columbia.

Not that a few extra days is probably going to help you if you haven’t gotten your taxes done by the 15th, but it might help you float a little longer if you are one of the ones who has to send a check with your taxes.  I’m pretty sure if I was, I would probably wait as long as possible.
