Technology rules
On the cusp of my foray into the world of high-yield savings I really don’t know what we would all do without a little technology. In a matter of hours, I was able to find someone with a referral, sign up under that referral, fund the account, and get my $25 signup.
On top of that, I use Money 2006 Deluxe for my bookkeeping. Well, what I count as bookkeeping. I have no formal training so it mostly amounts to a high tech check register. The beauty of it all is that in the process of adding my ING Direct account to my accounts I was able to add it as an automatically updating account. Now, everytime I log in to my Money software, it automatically updates my account with any transactions that have been made. Even better, it categorizes nearly all of the transactions. Take for instance the $25 signup bonus. Automatically categorized as Income/Interest.
Now, if the darn thing would figure out how to increase the balances in my accounts automatically too. That’s another story but, darn isn’t technology cool?
