If you’re not selling your photos and just want to print some extra prints off, you’ll want to read this. My wife and I, thanks to a generous gift from one of our parents, have made the switch to full time digital picture taking. A side effect of that is that we now save a little money on photo developing by not having to develop all of the photos we take.
If we need the prints right away, we end up at our local walmart paying nearly $0.30 a print for a 4X6 photo. Not very cheap when you’ve got prints for three sets of grandparents, four sets of aunts and uncles, numerous friends who demand prints(Jakob!) and then a few extra for ourselves. Most times we can’t leave the store without spending more than $10.
So now on to the saving money part. Nearly 50% when it comes down to it. We upload our photos to our account on Flickr where all of the grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and even we can go to see them in all their digital glory. Not only that, but they can all pick the prints they really want.
Even better, you can order prints directly from Flickr. At about $0.15 per print, it’s a bunch cheaper than Wal-mart. We just did it last week. We ordered over 30 prints and the bill was less than $10. And the more we buy, the cheaper it is since the shipping and handling fee gets spread a little thinner.
Better than that, the real savings start when you start ordering the larger prints like the 8X10s. Now the savings goes from $0.15 to over $0.70. If you order a lot of 8X10 prints, you can’t afford to ignore Flickr.
Of course, you also have to be willing to wait about a week for your prints to show up, but if you aren’t in a hurry, the savings are well worth it.

Yes, nobody can beat $0.15 a print, phew. I know for more high-quality prints, like on canvas and stuff, is pretty good.
Oops, http://www.imagekind.com is what a meant to suggest.
