CNBC Milliondollar Portfolio update
Well, it’s been a few weeks and I certainly am not in competition for the big prize. Not even close really. The leader has over 4 million at the moment. Me?
Well, I’ve managed a paltry 131k return so far. Nothing to scoff at really, but it’s been mostly boosted by a 4% rise this week on some lucky earnings guesses.
My strategy so far has been to take a look at the companies that are releasing earnings and try and find the surprises. I managed to jump on board a couple of good ones this week, but currently have two that I missed completely waiting to be offloaded after close today.
I’m not really taking any success in this contest seriously. If it were my money, I would most definitely not invest it in the way that I have there. Much too risky for my blood. But still… a 13% return is pretty darn good if you get lucky. Maybe I’d have to let a little of the money do the talking that way.
Have you done well in the contest? What’s your strategy?
