Before buying my home late last year, I was a bit of a nomad. Seven different places to call home in just six years. I won’t go into the details, but as you can see, that’s ridiculous. Each time I handled the moving myself, along with some friends. Beer and pizza go a long way when asking someone to help moving. Uhaul was also my friend, though it was somewhat of a hassle driving such a big rig around. By day I drive a Honda Civic – trying to drive a 24′ Uhaul is a huge stretch for me.
There’s a company called U-Pack, which is one of many moving companies that you can find online. U-Pack isn’t quite like the rest though – which is why I’m writing about them.
Basically when you’re moving, you have to pack everything you own, stuff it into a huge truck, and struggle to drive that huge truck to your new destination, unpack, and return the truck. Quite a bit of work, all said and done. You do have the option of a full service mover who will do everything for you, from A-Z. That will cost you an arm, a leg, and perhaps an ear or two. In other words, it’s not a good way to save pennies.
What U-Pack does is deliver a portable container called a ReloCube to your current home. They give you three business days to pack up all your goodies and load them in the cube. After that it gets even easier – U-Pack picks up the cube, and drives it to your new home for you. Once there, you have a full three days to unload your boxes. U-Pack will then pick up the Cube and be on their way. You get to avoid the rush of packing and unpacking in a hurry, and you don’t have to drive a large truck yourself.

Like any good business, U-Pack allows you to get a quote online. Your quote is all-inclusive – no extra charges for fuel or weight. No suprises. Just a cost-effective solution to moving, that reduces hassle and headaches. If you have a move coming up, get a quote. It’s quick, free, and there’s no downside. If you don’t like what you see, you’re free to go with UHaul.
