Sunday Thought 19
by JD on September 7, 2008
The “love of money is a root of all sorts of evil” (Bible, 1 Timothy 6:10). Many people have mistranslated this to think that money is the root of evil. It is not. It is the love of it that is the root, or the beginning. We must not love money or cling to it so tightly that it becomes everything to us. But how do we know if we love it or not? One simple test is – is money or financial issues the first thing you think about when you wake up and/or is it the last thing you think about as you lie down to sleep? If so, maybe you love money a little too much!
Love should be shown to people, never to objects or things.
“He who loves moneyh will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity (Bible, Ecclesiastes 5:10).”
