As the gloom and doom unfolds in the press, and we hear more and more about bailouts and other depressing things, I thought today would be a good time to remind myself of something important. I can make a difference. Maybe not to thousands, or even hundreds of people, but I can make a difference in the life of someone. It could be a relative, a friend, a neighbor, even a co-worker or a stranger.
I can do this by helping someone who is in need. As to who is in need, I will let that up to you. But we all surely know someone who could use a little help. If you are fortunate, you could help someone with a big expense. But all of us can at least do a little something – provide a meal, lend a hand, give financial help.
I hope that we can use these days as a time not to hoard and think only of ourselves, but as opportunities to be a blessing to others. If we do this, all of us will be blest.
“When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the alien. I am the Lord your God. (Bible, Leviticus 23:22)
Break away now from your sins by doing righteousness, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity. (Bible, Daniel 4:27)

As a single mom it is often hard to make ends meet. As such I had some car trouble and my neighbor paid for my car to get fixed. They told me not to worry about paying them back and I am forever grateful. If I can do something for someone I know who needs financial help in the future you can be sure I will do what I can.
Thanks for sharing Denise. I wish more people would have that attitude and gratefulness.
