Sunday Thought 30

by JD on February 8, 2009

“It isn’t fair”. I know I have heard that a lot from my three little girls. Lately, I have also been hearing that a lot from the media. “It isn’t fair” that the rich and powerful can get away with not paying their taxes. And they are right, it is not fair. The bad news though is, life is not fair. And it probably never will be.

I also hear cries for justice. Whether it’s for those who cheat on their taxes, take outrageous salaries and bonuses all the while laying others off, for evil rulers of country’s, etc. Interesting, we always want justice for others, while reserving mercy for ourselves.

The bad news is that justice may not come in this life time. The good news is that justice will one day come. The even better news – we can have mercy and grace extended to us.

They spend their days in prosperity, and suddenly they go down to Sheol (Job 21:13).

He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out (Proverbs 10:9).

In the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you        (Matthew 7:2).

I am not so upset by the “fairness” of it all as I am by the justice or I should say the “un-justice” of the whole counrty going to hell in a hand basket.
It may very well be that I too far short and should not judge, but we DO have laws that are SUPPOSE to be fair and just for everyone. That is where the “un-fairness” comes into play.
It brings back the thought, “Stop complaing, and start the revolution”.
