What is your definition of wealth? For many, it’s just a little bit more: money, house, car, vacation, etc. And if that is how we define wealth, well that will corrupt us (can you say congress?). If material things is all wealth is, than we can be easily influenced by bribes, tempted to lie (IRS), even to steal.
But wealth is so much more. It includes our health, our talents and gifts, even peace and contentment, our families. True wealth cannot be bought and sold. It cannot be grabbed hold of illegally. It cannot be hoarded. But it can be used wisely to help others (and at the same time helping ourselves!).
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains (Bible, 1 Corinthians 10:26).
Honor the Lord from your wealth (Bible, Proverbs 3:9).
