Being a valued employee is extremely important, whether it is during poor economic times or good. And one of the most important things an employee can be is diligent – doing the work that is given you to the best of your ability and in a timely manner. Honesty, integrity, and excellence also characterize diligence.
The key to being diligent is do your work this way whether someone notices or not, or whether you are rewarded or not. In some ways, diligence is it’s own reward – a sign of a man or woman of good character.
The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slack hand will be put to forced labor. (Prroverbs 12:24).
He who tends the fig tree will eat its fruit; and he who cares for his master will be honored. (Proberbs 27:18)
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31).
