Sunday Thought 45

by JD on June 14, 2009

I have been reading where people are walking away from their houses and mortgages. I have also been hearing about credit card defaults increasing. And then I have been hearing about employee theft on the rise.

We need a stronger desire for restitution. Restitution is a fancy word for making things right. If you have stolen, or cheated, or deceived someone, you are to make restitution, make things right. A man or woman of integrity pays what they owe regardless of circumstances. They pay it back even if it takes years, even a lifetime.

I hope you are a person of your word. A person of integrity.

A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft. If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession–whether ox or donkey or sheep–he must pay back double. Exodus 22:3-4

Then he shall confess his sins which he has committed, and he shall make restitution in full for his wrong, and add to it one-fifth of it, and give it to him whom he has wronged.  Numbers 5:7
