In early June it was the brakes needing repaired. In late June it was the gas tank that needed replaced. Yesterday it was some hoses for the heater that were leaking. Our van has been a “challenge” for our car budget recently. It has 155,000 miles, but overall it has been good to us. I will definitely need to rethink the car budget – I have had to dip into the emergency fund to pay for some of the repairs.
Of course the hard thing is what part of the budget do you decrease so you can increase the car budget? At least the good news is that I had an emergency fund to cover some of the expense. Now we just have to build that back up again. Another good thing is that I don’t have any car payments – so a few repair bills now and then is much better than a monthly payment!
