Sunday Thought 56

by JD on September 27, 2009

I love to give gifts (and of course receive them!). I especially like to give gifts to my children. They are still at the ages where their faces light up and they get excited even about the smallest gift. Some of the best gifts I give them are ones that we don’t normally think of as gifts in our society – food, clothing, shelter. In other parts of the world though these would be treasures.

The most important gift I can give them though is my love. And one of the best expressions of love I can give them is spending time with them. I have heard it said that you can spell love “t-i-m-e”. I hope that you are spending time, and not just money, on those you love.

“What man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”  Matthew 7:9-11
