Our family is back from a wonderful vacation at the Jersey Shore. It’s been hard for all of us to get back into the swing of things. It took me the whole morning yesterday just to go through work emails. Ugh!
Expense wise, we went overĀ budget for vacation by about $200. Fortunately, I have some extra monies (from another budget) that I can use to cover the extra. I will have to take a look at the vacation budget and see if it needs increased a bit for next year. I tend to look at my budgets quarterly to see how they are doing overall and make minor adjustments between them. During the last quarter (October – December) I look over the whole year to see what adjustments I will make going into the new year.
One of my budgeting goals for next year is to reduce the number of times I “borrow” from other accounts (like I am doing for vacation). It is a bad habit that I have slipped into the past couple of years that I want to get out of. It can become a way to overspend and that needs to not happen. So during this quarter review I will be taking extra time to examine and make sure my budget’s are in line with expenses and my goals for the next year – and then stick to it!
