Sunday Thought 58

by JD on October 11, 2009

As you may have noticed, the retail stores believe Christmas is just around the corner. Although I am a Christian, I am not a big fan of the Christmas season shopping “creep”.  Thanksgiving is barely a blip on the radar screen. But I digress.

During the holiday season (and I am using the term loosely like the stores) we often think of those ministries that help others – Salvation Army, Food Banks, Homeless Shelters, etc.  What I would like us to think about this year, in addition to those who are being helped, is those who work to help those people. There are volunteers, and there are those who are supported by our gifts so they can work full time to help others. They sacrifice a lot to do so. But they are worthy of our help and support. Maybe we can give a little extra to help them help others this year? Now would be a good time to plan to do it!

Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is worthy of his support. Matthew 10:9-10
