Most of us wish we had just a little bit more money. What we have seems never enough. The reality is that most of us reading this are well off compared to the rest of the world. If you go to a site called the Global Rich List and key in your family income, you may be surprised how well off you are. For example, a family making $15,000 a year is richer than 88% of the rest of the world. If your family makes $35,000 you are in the top 5% of wage earners in the world. And, if you happen to be lucky enough to make $55,000 or more, you are one of the top 1% richest people in the world!
Maybe what we need to do is refocus. Stop looking at just ourselves, and start looking out for others – helping those in need. Not only will you be helping someone else, in a way you will be helping yourself! In Proverbs 22:9 we read that “he who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” And in Proverbs 14:21 it says “but happy is he who is gracious to the poor.”
Blessings and happiness come to those who are kind and generous to the poor. So if we use our money right by helping others, we can “buy” happiness!
