Sunday Thought 84

Happy Mother’s Day! From Proverbs 31 we find this financial wisdom and praise toward women:

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I just quoted verses 27-30, but I was amazed at how much finances are discussed in regard to women in this chapter. A wife (and mother) of noble character is intricately involved in the financial affairs of the family. To list just a few of the financial things she is involved in:

  • purchasing of general household items
  • providing food and clothing for family
  • buying real estate
  • earning money
  • taking care of the poor
  • selling homemade goods

Wow – that’s a lot of financial involvement! As shown in this chapter of Proverbs, women should be involved in the financial decisions of the home.

Thanks mom for all you did and are still doing for me and my family, financially and everything else! Thanks to all the wives and mothers – have a great day!
