Are you taking some time to rest? Really rest? A whole day of rest? Now the days of being put to death for not observing the Sabbath are over (Exodus 31:14). But the idea of six days of work and resting on the other day is not. Jesus in Mark 2:27 confronts those who are legalistic about the day saying that “the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” Jesus was not so concerned about what you do or don’t do on that day, but that you do take a day for rest; the day was created for us to get refreshed. So, are you taking a day to get refreshed, re-energized, a day to relax and unwind from the busyness of life? We all need that down time. Yes, we need to work hard (that’s important for our finances!), but there are six days to do that. We also need to rest- and that can be just as important to our finances. It’s hard to make good decisions, especially financial decisions, when we are stressed and weary. So go ahead, take a day off! You will thank yourself for it later.
