Same Road – Different Vehicle – Same Result!

Coming back from my wife’s post-operation check-up our Ford Explorer stopped! On the same road as my Dodge Caravan died! In fact I was only about 100 yards from the same spot. Ugh! Fortunately our car mechanic could come and tow us, and we were able to get a neighbor to come and pick us up. So now I will have to pay for towing, and then probably an alternator(that’s what the mechanic thought it was). So this will probably set us back a couple of hundred dollars. The good news is that I do have some money in our maintenance fund, but I will probably have to dip into our emergency fund again – which we just started building up again. Goodbye emergency fund!

It has been one thing after another. Fortunately we have not gone into debt, but we cannot seem to build up any savings. Just when we do, bang, another hit comes along! 

The great news is my wife is starting to feel better.  And it looks like all the medical bills will be taken care of since we hit our deductible. So that is something to be thankful for!
