No matter how shrewd a money manager we are, no matter how careful we are, sometimes our resources are not enough. Maybe an unexpected repair bill, a loss of work, or a health issue can set us back. Although we should always rely on God, it’s good to know that in these circumstances God can supply our need.
In Mark chapter 6 we see Jesus teaching a crowd of people, 5000 men plus women and children. It became late in the day and it was a remote place. The disciples wanted to send the people away so they could eat. Jesus told the disciples to give them something to eat. The disciples couldn’t believe it – they told Jesus that it would take 8 months wages to feed all these people.
So Jesus took what they had, five loaves of bread and two fish, and he gave thanks and broke the loaves and divided the fish and then gave it to his disciples to give to the people. Everyone ate and was satisfied, and in fact their were left overs!
God took their resources and made them abundant enough to cover the need. He did it then and he has done it for many others, including myself. God can meet us at our point of need if we trust him.
