Today is the fourth Sunday in Advent. Like the gospel of Mark, the book of John does not contain “treasured” Christmas stories. However it does tell of Jesus’ beginnings:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning…”
John goes on to say that he”testifies concerning him [Jesus].” And one of the things he testifies about is that “from the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.” I believe that is a very true statement. We have all received blessings. Some of these are quite obvious, some very recent, some may even be unnoticed by us. But we have been blessed.
As we approach Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Jesus, how have you been blessed this year? Financially? Relationally? Health? Other ways? Take time to thank those who have blessed you this year.
