Happy Valentines Day!

by JD on February 14, 2012

So what did I do for Valentines day? My wife and I don’t personally do much, we make it more of a love of family celebration rather than a romantic celebration. This year we celebrated on Saturday. Ahead of time my wife looked through her cook books and magazines (Taste of Home) and picked out several meal plans. Than we as a family put together a meal from that list. On Saturday evening, we got out our china, good silver, candles, soft music, good linens, and had a formal sit down meal as a family. We all pitch in to help set up and then clean up. All my girls (daughters and wife) love it. They look forward to it every year. After the meal (and the clean up), we then all retired to the living room where we watched a movie we had recently purchased (Night at the Museum).

Total cost for “the event”? Maybe $50 if you count some specialty foods that we don’t normally have (the movie was only $8 at Amazon – love being a Prime member!). The best thing is that we are together as a family having an enjoyable evening that builds memories and is fast becoming a cherished tradition.
