Sunday Thought

None of us is perfect—most if not all of us can agree with that! We know we have faults and that there are things we think, say, or do, that are not right. But we often minimize these. We might know that we can be envious of others, or that we are a “little” greedy”, wanting always a little more. But we pass it off as just a little thing, not something to really worry about or change in ourselves.

When I was reading the first chapter of the book of Romans, I was struck by the fact of how these “little” sins are not differentiated from what we consider the really “evil” things in life.  The writer Paul says how some have “become filled with every kind of wickedness”, then he describes that word wickedness even more, calling it evil, greed, and depravity. Greed right along side evil and depravity! And if that wasn’t enough, then Paul gives a list of specific deeds that are wrong, and yes the very first one in the list is envy, followed up by murder!

Yes, how we handle and view finances says a lot about our character, and is a window into our heart and soul.
