Sunday Thought

by JD on November 25, 2012

I read and hear a lot about how employers are supposed to treat their employees with respect, kindness, fair pay, etc. But I do not hear much about how employees are supposed to treat their employers. In Ephesians chapter 6 the Apostle Paul talks about this. Although I hope you are not a literal “slave”, the points made also apply in employee and employer relationships:

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

I hope that we all give to our employers what is due to them – respect and a fair days work.
